+ Dam Installation - 1.2 mH x 9.7 mL x 1 span

  • Size: 1.2 mH x 9.7 mL x 1 span
  • Application: Maintaining constant upstream water level
  • Filling medium: Air
  • Control system: Dynamic Level Control
  • Status: In operation
  • Commissioned: June 2015

This project was funded by the EU under the POLIS programme. The Rubber Dam forms part of an urban regeneration, environmental improvement and leisure activities scheme. The Rubber Dam will guarantee a fixed upstream water level set point, irrespective of whether it is operating in the fully inflated or partially deflated positions. This job is currently being installed  and is due to be commissioned in June 2015.

  • Status: Commissioned and in operation
  • Commissioning: May 2015

The purpose of the Rubber Dam is to increase the storage capacity of Lake Britton on northern California for the Pit 3 HEP plant. The Rubber Dam operates by means of fixed level control, operating either fully inflated or fully deflated. This job was recently commissioned in April 2015.

+ Dam Installation - 3.5 mH x 31.0 mL x 2 spans

  • Size: 3.5 mH x 31.0 mL x 2 spans
  • Application: Increasing drinking water reservoir storage capacity
  • Filling medium: Air
  • Control system: Dynamic Level Control
  • Status: Commissioned and in operation
  • Operational by: January 2014

The purpose of the Rubber Dam is to store potable drinking water for a City of Tegucigalpa in Honduras. The Rubber Dam is currently in operation and is a replacement of an existing Bridgestone Rubber Dam, which reached the end of its design life. The entire control system was replaced as well as the rubber bladders.

+ Dam Installation - 2.44 mH x 88.70 mL x 1 span

  • Size: 2.44 mH x 88.70 m x 1 span
  • Application: Damming a reservoir for leisure activities
  • Filling medium: Air
  • Control system: Fixed Level Control
  • Status: Commissioned and in operation
  • Operational since: November 2012

An air-filled Rubber Dam was supplied and installed to replace an existing Bridgestone bladder which had reached the end of its design
life. The replacement bladder is part of a seven span site, which forms
a reservoir used mainly for tourism and sporting activities. The Rubber Dam has been in operation since November 2012.

+ Dam Installation - 3.0 mH x 20.68 m x 1 span

  • Size: 3.0 mH x 20.68 m x 1 span
  • Application: In-take structure for an hydro         electric power scheme
  • Filling medium: Air

The Rubber Dam is part of the 111 MW Chacayes run-
of-river facility in Chile’s Alto Cachapoal Valley.

The control system provides the flexibility to accurately control the upstream water level to a variable set point. The PLC automatically responds to water levels above or below the set point by decreasing or increasing the internal pressure of the bladder to either pass or store water.
